How much does a website cost in India in 2026?

By Surjith Kumar K ·

“How much does a website cost?” is the first question almost every business owner asks, and the honest answer is: it depends on what the website needs to do. This guide gives you real price ranges for India in 2026, explains what moves the price up or down, and shows you how to compare quotes without getting burned.

Typical price ranges in 2026

These are realistic ranges for professionally designed and built websites from studios and experienced freelancers in Tamil Nadu and across India, based on the published prices we compared in October 2026. Template sites can be cheaper; large custom builds can be much more.

  • Landing page (one page): roughly ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. Good for a single offer, a launch or an ad campaign.
  • Business website (5 to 10 pages): roughly ₹10,000 to ₹60,000. Home, about, services, gallery, contact and a blog for most service businesses.
  • Online store: roughly ₹25,000 to ₹1,50,000 and up, depending on the number of products, payment and shipping setup and custom features.
  • Custom web app or portal: usually ₹50,000 and up. Bookings, member areas, dashboards and integrations take real engineering time.

For reference, our own published starting prices are ₹6,999 for a landing page, ₹14,999 for a business website, ₹29,999 for an online store and ₹59,999 for a custom web app, with no GST added. You can build your own estimate on our pricing page.

Five things that change the price

1. Custom design or a template

A template is faster and cheaper but looks like thousands of other sites and often carries heavy code you don't need. A custom design is planned around your customers and brand, which usually means better results and a faster site, at a higher upfront cost.

2. Number of pages and content

Every unique page needs planning, design, content and testing. Ten service pages cost more than one services page. If you need someone to write the words, budget for copywriting too.

3. Features and integrations

Booking systems, payment gateways, multi-language content, member logins, CRMs, WhatsApp automation and custom calculators all add development time. Ask for each feature to be priced separately so you can choose.

4. Platform

WordPress, Next.js, Shopify and custom builds have different setup costs and different running costs. Read our comparison of WordPress and Next.js for the trade-offs.

5. SEO and performance work

A website that loads in under two seconds and is set up properly for Google takes more care than one that simply looks nice. That care pays for itself if you want customers to find you through search.

Costs people forget

A good quote lists these clearly. If yours doesn't, ask.

  • Domain name: usually ₹800 to ₹1,500 a year for a .com or .in, renewed annually.
  • Hosting: from a few thousand rupees a year for a small site to much more for busy stores.
  • GST: 18% is added to most digital services in India where the provider is GST-registered.
  • Premium plugins, themes or fonts: some are yearly subscriptions.
  • Payment gateway fees: a percentage of each online payment, set by the gateway.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups and security. Budget for a care plan or your own time.

How to spend less without regret

  • Start smaller. One excellent landing page for your best service can bring enquiries while you plan the full site.
  • Prepare your content early. Delays waiting for text and photos are the most common reason projects run over.
  • Prioritise features. Launch with what customers need now; add the rest in phase two.
  • Own your accounts. Make sure the domain, hosting and code are in your name, so you never pay to get your own website back.

How to compare quotes

Put quotes side by side and check that each one answers the same questions:

  1. Exactly which pages and features are included?
  2. Is the design custom or based on a template?
  3. Is basic SEO included: titles, descriptions, schema, sitemap, speed?
  4. Who owns the domain, hosting account, code and design files?
  5. What happens after launch: how long are fixes free, and what does maintenance cost?
  6. Are GST and third-party costs shown separately?

The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest website. The best value is a site that brings in customers, is easy to update and belongs to you. If you'd like a fixed, itemised quote for your project, get in touch.
